Servant leadership is not a new idea. Yet, it is a refreshing one that has found new wind in its sails over the past couple decades. It is a leadership paradox some leaders have embraced by forming their behaviors into the look and feel of a servant leader. With all the best intentions, they have decided to be a servant leader!
Yet, servant leadership is not a decision. It is the result of a leader’s intentional exploration deep within their own core. Servant leadership is a natural reflection of a leader living the core values that specifically define them individually … and then individually knowing how they engage the core values of the organization they lead. Those values are the framework for a leader’s service. You don’t decide to be a servant leader. By default, you become one…from deep within.
